A beautiful smile and white teeth – everyone wants them, right? 🙂
That's why we've gathered a few tried-and-tested home tricks for you that will contribute to the health and shine of your smile. Of course, proper dental care is determined by the individual characteristics of the oral cavity, but we've prepared suggestions that are completely natural and harmless. And they are so easy to apply at home!

To start, let's quickly recall the most common causes of plaque buildup and yellowing of tooth enamel:

– staining foods and drinks – wine, coffee, black tea, fizzy drinks, and intensely dark fruits (blueberries, mulberries, blackberries)
– smoking – besides yellowing, nicotine also damages enamel
– improper tooth brushing – for proper technique, you can consult your dentist
– not using dental floss – it's more important than a toothbrush, and we often skip it

Besides avoiding harmful habits and regular teeth cleaning, a perfect smile also requires additional care. Some people prefer to take advantage of whitening procedures at the dentist, and as you know, at ZELEN, we always prefer to try natural remedies first.

Here are a few easily accessible whitening products – coconut oil, turmeric, activated charcoal, lemon juice, and baking soda. Here's how to use them:

1. Whitening with turmeric and coconut oil – Make a paste with a teaspoon of turmeric and the same amount of coconut oil. Rub it on your teeth with a brush for 5 minutes. A gentle method, suitable for more sensitive teeth. It can be applied twice a week.

And do you know about oil pulling with coconut oil?
It is extremely effective for both teeth whitening and toxin removal

in the oral cavity, thanks to the oil's pronounced antibacterial properties.
Oil pulling with coconut oil is done every morning on an empty stomach for 10 to 30 minutes,

after which the oil is spit out.

2. Whitening with activated charcoal – Crush an activated charcoal tablet or use the powder from an activated charcoal capsule (half a tablet is perfectly sufficient). Rub it on your teeth with a brush for 5 minutes, being careful not to harm your gums. Apply once a week.

3. Whitening with lemon juice and baking soda– This is one of the most popular home recipes for a whitening mixture. Mix a teaspoon of baking soda with a few drops of lemon juice and rub it on your teeth with a brush. This method is more aggressive to the enamel and is not suitable for sensitive teeth. It is advisable not to apply it more often than once a month, because otherwise, it can damage the tooth surface.

Baking soda can also be used dissolved in a small amount of water,
as a paste for strengthening gums, because its alkaline nature
helps to cope with minor infections and inflammations.

It is important to know that immediately before whitening procedures, you should not consume fruits and acidic foods, because they naturally make the enamel softer and more sensitive. Therefore, whitening would be more damaging and even painful.
