Cocoa beans are found in the pale yellow pods of the evergreen tropical tree, the cocoa palm. It originates from Central and South America and thrives in areas around the Equator. The name of the Amazonian tree Theobroma cacao literally means "food of the gods."

The cocoa beans themselves are about 3-5 cm in size, intensely brown with a characteristic cocoa flavor, naturally bitter. A favorite of natural chocolate connoisseurs. Though small in size, they are packed with an impressive amount of nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Cocoa has long been known as an invigorating and toning food, as well as a natural antioxidant. The mood-enhancing properties attributed to chocolate are no coincidence, and we owe them to cocoa.
