Cocoa butter (Theobroma oil) is a vegetable oil extracted from cocoa beans through cold pressing, which allows the preservation of its valuable nutrients. Raw cocoa beans ferment (along with their husks), are dried, and then coarsely ground to produce cocoa mass. This is further pressed to extract cocoa butter. The residual product of this process is ground into a fine powder to obtain cocoa powder. These are the two main raw materials for making chocolate.

Cocoa butter is one of the most stable fats, containing natural antioxidants that protect it from rancidity. Cocoa butter is believed to have a beneficial effect on heart and cardiovascular system activity due to the magnesium it contains and its tonic effect. It is also suitable for external use, as it has a very beneficial effect on the skin.

Cocoa butter is also often present in homemade body oils, combined with other softer or liquid base oils such as coconut, argan, and almond. Mixing them is easiest when fully melted in a water bath.
