Bio Certified Soap Nuts, Tierra Verde, 500g

Soap nuts are the nuts of the Sapindus mukorossi tree, found throughout the native forests of the Himalayas in Northern India. Locals have used the husks of these nuts for hundreds of years to wash their clothes and bodies. Using soap nuts today is among the most budget-friendly ways to do laundry.

Soap nut husks are suitable for gentle washing in washing machines and by hand. They contain a plant saponin, which is suitable for washing all types of normally soiled fabrics (with sweat, dust), including functional underwear and the finest fabrics (wool, silk). The nuts do not cause colours to fade and are suitable for people with sensitive skin (children, people with skin irritations).

How to use: Place the appropriate number of nuts (see the table on the back) in the cloth bag provided in the package, tie it securely, and add it with the laundry to the washing machine drum. It is not necessary to use Yellow & Blue Fabric Softener or Rinse Aid (Tierra Verde) because the saponin from the soap nuts softens the water. The nuts can be used 2-3 times at temperatures up to 60 ˚C. If they no longer foam when soaked in hot water (do not release saponin), separate them for composting. To scent the laundry: before placing it in the washing machine, drip your favourite essential oil onto the bag with soap nuts.

For white laundry: add 1-2 spoons of Yellow & Blue PUER powder (soap nuts do not contain bleaching agents).

For heavily soiled laundry: the evening before washing, soak in the hottest possible water (according to the type of laundry) and add 1-2 spoons of Yellow & Blue PUER powder.

For stains: before washing, treat the soiled areas with Yellow & Blue Stain Soap.

Minimal chemical content: Washing with soap nuts is completely natural. At present, we do not know of a more effective and ecological source of plant saponin. The trees that bear these nuts grow wild in India. There are no plantations for their cultivation. Our nuts are collected by Indian women, for whom this work is a source of income and independence.
