Brownies are a popular North American chocolate dessert that recently burst into our kitchens and hearts. However, while delicious, the original recipe is unhealthy, heavy, and very, very high in calories.
If, like us, you're looking for a healthier but equally delicious alternative to this dessert, then you've come to the right place.
In this blog post, you'll discover how you can make a vegan gluten-free brownie yourself at home, using high-quality, organic products. The recipe is from culinary blogger Ilona Zdravkova, and together with her, we guarantee that when it comes to taste, her interpretation is in no way inferior to traditional brownies.
Does it seem impossible? Let's make it together to convince you. Roll up your sleeves, because the preparation time for one tray (approximately 8 pieces) is about 30 minutes.
Ingredients:
- 30 g organic coconut oil Dragon Superfoods
- 70 g dark chocolate
- 30 g organic chia seeds Dragon Superfoods
- 100 g brown sugar
- 20 g organic hazelnut tahini Bett’r
- 1 tsp cocoa powder Dragon Superfoods
- 20 g organic carob flour Dragon Superfoods
- 50 g organic almond flour Dragon Superfood
Optionally, you can replace dark chocolate with milk chocolate. If you are looking for ideas for a higher quality product, we suggest you try Dragon Superfoods milk chocolate drops, which contain no animal products or artificial sweeteners.
Instead of fresh milk, they are made with fine coconut cream, which perfectly balances the intense taste of high-quality Peruvian cocoa. They are sweetened with coconut sugar, which adds extra aroma and turns the chocolate drops into the perfect finish for any dessert.
Speaking of desserts, it's time to move on to making our vegan gluten-free brownie.
Method of preparation:
Soak the Dragon Superfoods chia seeds in 50 ml of water and let them swell. In the meantime, mix the Dragon Superfoods coconut oil, pre-melted dark chocolate, and sugar in a large bowl and stir. Add the already swollen chia seeds, then the rest of the ingredients, and stir until a thick, homogeneous mixture is obtained.
Pour the mixture into a small baking pan (e.g., 15x20cm) lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 23-25 minutes. Since the brownie is vegan, it will appear a little softer at this stage, but you should keep in mind that it will firm up once it cools.
After it has cooled and firmed up, cut the brownie into pieces. Optionally, you can add a scoop of organic ice cream on top, then serve.
